Buku berjudul “Izinkan Aku Pergi” ini berisi delapan belas cerita pendek karya Rumondang E. Sitohang. Diterbitkan oleh penerbit Jejak pada tahun 2023. Menurut penulisnya pada sinopsis bagian belakang buku ini tertulis bahwa kumpulan cerpen ini kisah-kisahnya akan mampu memberikan kejutan bagi pembaca dan dijamin memuaskan selera pembaca yang gemar buku bergenre fiksi drama.

- Cerita yang pertama berjudul Akhirnya Kita Berpisah. Dalam cerita ini digambarkan kisah sepasang suami istri. Dimana tokoh utamanya yaitu Rin yang menikah dengan Farhan namun tidak merasa bahagia karena Ibu mertuanya terlalu mencampuri urusan rumah tangga mereka. Plot twistnya adalah ternyata tokoh utamanya itu terakhir menjadi gila atau dianggap gila? Dan ibu mertuanya itu adalah ibu tiri suaminya.
- Gaun Pengantin Ungu adalah judul cerpen kedua dalam buku ini. Mitos warna ungu adalah warna janda menjadi kenyaataan dialami gadis yang baru menikah di kisah ini. Pernikahanyya yang meriah dan bahagia berujung kesedihan saat Dandy suami tercintanya meninggal kecelakaan saaat pulang kerja yang dibayangi misteri kematian almarhum ayahnya.
- Cerita yang ketiga berjudul Izinkan Aku Pergi, judul ini dijadikan judul buku oleh penulisnya, mari kita tengok isi ceritanya. Curhat seorang ibu rumah tangga yang merasa diporsir suaminya untuk bekerja dan juga mengurus rumah, sedangkan suaminya berhasrat tinggi namun tidak peduli dengan kesejahteraan anak istrinya malah sibuk menolong orang lain sebagai relawan sosial bencana. Plot twistnya si Istri ambruk kritis karena kelelahan lahir batin.
- Kebodohan Yang Sempurna adalah kisah berikutnya yang becerita tentang Denok gadis yang tertipu oleh pria tampan yang merayunya dan ternyata meminjam sejumlah uang yang lumayan besar namun ternyata kabur dan sudah banyak gadis menjadi korban.
